our last honors blog :(

How has your thinking changed regarding literature?

My think has changed a lot I learned new meanings. I didn't know there was a such thing as literary terms nor did I know that there were so many. There are so many parts to a book you can just pick out, I mean we all know the basic: setting, character, plot...... But allegory, allusion, Anthropomorphism I don't even know how to pronounce that. But the most important things is that now I know so if someone were to ask me what is analogy in terms of a book I can say "analogy is when you compare to things that relate to each other like the grave is to eternity as death is to sleep, lol kinda sorta got it still need a little work on it though.

I'm going to miss writing blogs.

magazine article pt15 last one i hope:)

What did you learn?

I learned that drafting and revision is a very useful tool to use. Each school year I hear my teachers say always do multiple drafts, always let a numerous amount of people critique your writing to get different perspectives. Now that we are actually letting other people outside our school read it and publish our writing I see how important drafting and revision is important. As we got a chance to get our writing back from publishers to see our mistakes we saw that we still had some touching up to and if wasn't for drafting and revision it would have been out there for all the world to see. I also learned in the job field it is not easy to please everybody even if your thinking your doing a good job your in for big surprise initiative is a new word I had to learn during this whole project.

How did you learn it?

I learned this by looking through my classmates writing pieces and even my own paper. I had to go through numerous drafts before I got to where I am right now. I learned I had to get different perspectives to see where I was in my writing. By learning how to ask other people to look at my writing I was taking the initiative of ask people to look at my writing and to give me advice as to where I should go from there.

Why is this important?
I think drafting and revision and taking initiative is very important especially in the world of writing and publishing and in the job field. You would want your published magazine field with noticeable mistakes that could have been eliminated if you just would had people looking at it

magzine reflection pt2

1. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what improved? How did it get better? Why?
I defiantly think there is a big difference from my first draft to my final pdf file. I really didn't have an intro it just went right into my topic which didn't help my readers get a feel of what my readers are getting into. I think because i had plenty of people read over it and give me feedback on it, that it help out a lot. My body piece didn't need much work since it was mainly opinion and things that happened to me so there was not a big difference to that except that added a conclusion to wrap up my thought.

2. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what still needs work? What do you think will help you improve? Why?
Overall I think I still need to work on the structure of the writing. I think my sentences could flow better so people can understand what I am talking about. I can improve this by letting the people looking at my paper know that I need help structuring paper, then they would be more focused on helping me with my structure.

3. Specifically, show us something that improved and describe the path it took to get better. You can quote your article, your drafts, link to evidence, etc.
old intro
Somethings you can learn from my mistakes and successes. Upcoming juniors the first thing you should learn from me is.
new intro
"During internship I made some mistakes, and through my experiences I learned a lot and can help you have a better internship experience than I did. I learned some things the hard way.
I am a very laid back person I did what I was told, no questions asked, and that was the main reason I was miserable at my internship. I did not speak up and tell my mentor what I would like to do and because of that I was given the simple job of inputting information into a database instead of the more interesting job of giving tours which I wanted to do, but never got the chance . So this does not happen to you"

My original intro was just a few sentence but with help from my classmates and other people who looked at my paper, it turned into a whole paragraph about what the audience would be reading. this This was a good thing to add because I agreed that I needed to add an longer intro so people can better understand my writing.

4. Describe something specific (or a few things!) that you learned about writing.
I learned that less is more- more info and writing doesn't necessarily mean your paper is better than the person who wrote less it just means you put more unnecessary things in your paper.

always have an exciting intro and ending- don't start your article with a exciting intro and leave your audience hanging with a boring ending keep your audience happy that they read paper. You should always have a interesting intro cause with out one the audience would not even finish reading it.
Use action verbs when writing your sub-headline and headline- Also if you don't have an interesting headline they wont pick it up either you have to pull your audience with a heading that will seem interesting read.

magazine reflectoin

1. What went well for you during the process of creating this magazine?

Picking a topic to talk about was easy I knew what I wanted to talk about. So this part of the magazine was easy I spoke from my experiences and things I knew. Since I started on time this time instead of procrastinating I started on time which I think was a good thing because my end product was something I would be proud to show off.

2. What challenges did you face as you moved from an early draft or idea to a final product?

Problems I faced was making my editorial fun to read but still on topic of what I was talking about. I have read many of editorial some interesting and not interesting. I wanted my article to be in the category that was interesting. I struggled with that at first, but the more critiques I got the better my paper became.

3. What other examples of work—student and professional—stood out as exemplary and served as a good model for your own work?

The idea of writing an advice article came from watching shows and actually reading one. I would always see in high schools who write there own newspapers that there would always be an advice column in it, and that is what people would rush to read. That is what I wanted out of my article I wanted it to help the audience by telling my expeiriences.

Determination and Success: Tips that could help you become a success junior

During internship I made some mistakes, and through my experiences I learned a lot and can help you have a better internship experience than I did.
So this does not happen to you

I am going to give you tips for a successful interrnship

How To Pick Your Own Internship

1. Start right away, as soon as you find out when your internship starts, start looking for one. Whatever you do don't procrastinate, because before you know it, it will be time to start and you might end up with an internship you don't enjoy.

2. Select your internships wisely. Just because you find out your friends have the same internship as you doesn't necessarily mean this going to be a good experience for you. Sometimes friends can hinder you from doing a good job at your internship. If you are interning with your friends keep your talking to a minimum. Remember there is a time and place to have fun. If you are just picking your internship just because your friends have it then you shouldn't pick it, because you will learn slowly that it wasn't the best choice after all.

3. Sometimes it's not what you know-it's who you know. As you grow up as an adult or try to apply for college you will hear this quote about a lot. This quote is not always true but in this case it is 100 percent true. If it wasn't for the people I knew I probably would have not found an internship quickly enough. When I was let go from my internship I had to find another internship in a certain amount of time, I soon as I found this out I started looking for one and calling people, and by the next day I had found my new internship.

The First Day Of Internship:

Your first day of internship is almost never what you expect, but most of the time you will at first like it.

1. First impressions matter. This can go both ways either for you or your mentor. On your first day of internship, whether you're working at school with kids or even at a construction site you must dress to impress. This does not mean you have to go buy a whole new outfit, it just means you should dress how you would as you were going to get interviewed for the job. So girls, I suggest you wear either a skirt that comes close to your knees or you can wear really nice pants, preferably not jeans and a really nice blouse and Not Tight Clothes, because this is Not Professional. As for boys just wear slacks and a nice buttoned down shirt and you will be fine no need to worry much. Remember this is only for your first day, so don't-trip you will have your turn to show off those new Jordan's you just bought. It is just really important to make a good impression on your first day of internship.

2. Speak up, and tell them what you would like to bring to their business, because if you don't they will give you something that requires little effort. I learned this the hard way. Again there is a time and place to talk and it being your first day of internship it is definitely the time to do so. If you tell them the things that you can do and will be willing to learn they will give you a good job, but if you just take the job and not tell them that you can do more, then they won't give you more to do.

3. Sometimes it is not good enough to do what you are told. When I was told this quote I was confused and didn't understand. I mean how can you do everything your told and that still not be enough? What this quote basically means is that you're really never done with a job. You should always go over and beyond. Take initiative and do something extra, this will tell your mentor that you're up for anything and can help you with tip number two, because in order to speak up and tell your mentor you want to do something else you have to show your mentor that you are capable of doing the job.

If I would have known then what I know now, I would have done a better job at my internship. I have learned a lot and this has helped me at my new internship. I was more comfortable with my mentor, and I was able to speak up and tell her the different things I wanted to bring to her business. I am glad had struggles, I think the great Frederick Douglas said it the best “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.

obama,clinton,and the socialist

Obama is not the first to be accused of having socialist ideas in a article called Clinton's socialist manifesto there is plenty of proof say he was. This is a tough topic because I don't get socialism and I don't understand it enough to talk about, but I do know some of obama's ideas of how to better our economy. Obama and Clinton both had similar ideas on how to better the economy. They both tried to give better heath care and they both tried to fix the unemployment rate. I think Clinton tried to do this but since he was impeached he never got a chance to fix it. I think if we just give Obama a chance to prove himself and to scrutinizing him over every little thing he might can fix this financial crises. Remember before Obama was in office our economy was already jacked up due to previous presidents, so Obama is really struggling, and I think no matter who would had been in office our economy would still be bad,and I think we should give him a chance. Also I would like to now why is it that every since Obama has been presient people have been complaining more and lashing out at him i hear about Obama not doing a good job then when Bush was the president and Obama's Not even the one who messed up our economy in the first place he just trying the best way he can to better it.

beloved:honors blog

This is a picture of Oprah Winfrey in th movie beloved she plays the role of Sethe in the book Beloved written by Toni Morrison. Sethe is the main character of this story, they describe her as a strong and devoted woman. She is dedicated to make sure that her kids didnt go through the same tragic events that happened to her in her life as a slave. So she killed her first born daughter who might be the ghost who has been haunting the house for the last 18 years. She tries to runaway a way from her past but ends up running end to it no matter where she is.

Another important character in this book is Denver. In the movie she is played by Kimberly Elise. I think Denver also plays an important role in the book. She is youngest of Sethe's children and the most sensitive of them. She plays a powerful role in the book. They describe her as being intelligent, thoughtful , and emotional. I Think as a character she progresses to being a independent women like her mother.

6. What is the character's religion or philosophy? What beliefs does he/she hold? How does this create or mitigate internal conflict within his/her psyche?

7. What do others in the book say about the character?

8. What connections does this character have to history, established religion or the world beyond the book?

9. What does the character's name suggest? Authors rarely (if ever) name characters at random. What could the name symbolize? What evidence do you have for this?

10. How does the character develop during the plot? How does he/she change?
